Recently in Moscow, the VIII International Theatre Festival “GITIS – Master Class,” organized by the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS, took place. The festival brought together creative teams from nine CIS countries on a single stage. Kazakhstan was represented by second-year students of the Drama and Film Acting program at the Temirbek Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts. The main goals of their participation were to strengthen cultural ties, enhance the professional skills of young actors, and gain insight into new methods in theatre pedagogy.
The Academy’s delegation was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Theatre Arts, Master of Arts in Art Studies, Madiyar Sarybay. On the GITIS stage, where each country presented performances reflecting their national theatrical traditions, students from the workshop of Professor Erlan Bilal, Honored Artist of Kazakhstan, performed a production based on the epic “Kozy Korpesh – Bayan Sulu.” The performance was presented to the Moscow audience in the Kazakh language.
This achievement on the international stage reflects the students’ professional preparation and diligent work. The inspiration and experience gained during the trip will contribute positively to the development of Kazakh theatre and broaden creative opportunities for young actors.
