The Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Design invites you to participate in the round table
“LIFE AND LEGACY: THE ARTIST’S HERITAGE”,
which will take place on April 14, 2026, at 12:00 at: 127 Panfilov Street, Almaty
The event is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Professor, Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, prominent painter Mukhit Galimovich Kalimov.
Mukhit Kalimov (1931–2002) was a distinguished representative of Kazakh fine arts, educator, and professor. He made a significant contribution to the development of the national school of painting, working in landscape, portrait, and genre compositions. His notable works include: “Babalar,” “Abylai Khan,” “Syrym Batyr,” “Isatai-Makhambet,” “Murat Akyn,” “Kurmangazy,” “Kairan Sheshem,” “Gani Muratbayev,” and “Auezov and Ch. Aitmatov.”
Purpose of the round table:
To provide an art historical analysis of the artist’s creative legacy and define his role in national culture.
Objectives:
- discussion of his artistic heritage;
- analysis of stylistic and conceptual features;
- exploration of his personality through memories of colleagues and students.
