The XI International Film Festival Baiqonyr has ended. Following the results of the National Competition, a student and graduate of the Temirbek Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts were awarded high professional awards.

The Grand Prix of the festival was awarded to Myrza Makhambet, a 4th-year student of the educational program “Directing”, studying in the workshop of Sharipa Nurymbetovna Urazbaeva.

“Zharyk bolgan zhaz” film, directed by Amir Kaken, a graduate of the educational program “Directing”, who studied at the workshop of Ainur Muratovna Akhmetzhanova, was awarded a special prize dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Abdullah Karsakbayev.

In continuation of the festival success, the director of the film “Zharyk bolgan zhaz”, a graduate of the Academy, Amir Kaken, was awarded a monetary prize of 1,000,000 tenge by the Akimat of the Almaty region as part of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh director Abdulla Karsakbayev.

The awards received are a significant result of the creative and professional activities of the Academy’s representatives and testify to the high level of training of young specialists in the field of directing. The participation of students and graduates of the Academy in leading Russian film festivals contributes to the development of the professional potential of a new generation of cinematographers and to strengthening their positions in the field of national cinematography.
