The grand opening of the “ZAMANDASTAR-IV” exhibition by the Union of Young Artists took place on April 23, 2026, at 17:00 at Almaty Gallery, part of the Almaty Museum Association.
The event, organized with the support of the Akimat of Almaty, is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The opening ceremony featured welcoming speeches by Daniyar Abzalidenuly Aliyev, Head of the Department of Culture of the city of Almaty, and Nurlan Kalenuly Sataev, Chairman of the public association “Union of Young Artists.”
The “ZAMANDASTAR-IV” exhibition presents works by young artists, including faculty members, alumni, master’s students, and undergraduates of the “Painting, Sculpture and Design” faculty of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts: Oralbek Kaboke, Almas Nurgozhayev, Daurenbek Beknazarov, Alisher Zhurgenov, Daniyar Sarbasov, Nurbolat Askar, Aigerim Ospan, Turgyn Abdrakhman, Nurlan Sataev, Bauyrzhan Doszhanov, Sultan Amanzhol, Makhabbat Sagyndyk, Eldos Azamatuly, Aliya Kabikozhayeva, Orken Ayat, Zarina Chuketayeva, Anastasia Ilyinova, Ramazan Tasbolat. The exhibition curator is Sanzhar Syrgabeyev.
The key feature of the exhibition is the absence of a dominant style or unified theme. Instead, it brings together diverse artistic voices and creative explorations within a single space. From classical realism to decorative abstraction, from subtle portrait solutions to large-scale landscape and genre compositions, the exhibition offers viewers a wide spectrum of artistic approaches. Despite the diversity of individual styles, all participants share a common aspiration — to perceive and interpret life through the language of art. The exhibition will run until May 6, 2026.
The “ZAMANDASTAR” project is an original exhibition initiative launched in 2019 by artists and faculty members of the Fine Arts Department of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts — Nurlan Sataev and Turgyn Abdrakhman.
