In anticipation of the 95th anniversary of Uzbekali Zhanibekov — a prominent statesman, public figure, historian, ethnographer, and scholar who made an invaluable contribution to the spiritual revival of the Kazakh people — a meaningful and thought-provoking literary and educational event was held.
On April 23 at 11:00 AM, the Department of “Fashion and Costume Design” hosted an event titled “Uzbekali Zhanibekov — Guardian of the National Spirit: Historian of Kazakh Costume and Traditions.” This event became a true fusion of national consciousness, historical memory, and cultural values. Its main purpose was to broadly promote the spiritual and cultural legacy of Uzbekali Zhanibekov and to spark interest among the youth in national identity, traditions, and history.
As part of the event, attendees had the opportunity to view traditional Kazakh costumes — living symbols of the nation’s rich cultural heritage — and gain a deeper appreciation for their historical and symbolic significance. It was a vivid demonstration of reverence for ancestral wisdom and the careful preservation of sacred heritage.

Among those who gathered to honor Uzbekali Zhanibekov’s memory were his close relatives — Bauyrzhan Uzbekaliuly Zhanibekov, Zhuldyz Zhanibekova, and Azel Zhanibek-Sharipova — as well as his contemporaries, including Zhandos Maratovich Nurbekov and Yerlan Zhanakhmetovich Kozhabaev. Distinguished figures in the fields of culture, art, and art history were also in attendance, including Mukhan Amangeldi Orazbayuly and journalist Gulnar Tankaeva. The event was moderated by Layla Abdyganikovna Kenzhebaeva, Senior Lecturer at the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after Temirbek Zhurgenov, and Gulnar Jambulovna Bekibaeva, Associate Professor at the academy. The heartfelt recollections shared during the event left a deep impression on all those present. Every word spoken and every piece of art presented vividly reflected the spiritual depth of Uzbekali Zhanibekov and the greatness of the national spirit to which he devoted his life.
This event was more than just a commemoration — it served as a meaningful guidepost on the path to spiritual renewal, and a powerful example of dedication to national ideals and cultural heritage.
