Information about the Department
The Department of Animation Direction and Interactive Media carries out educational activities at the bachelor’s level, approved by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in accordance with the following educational programs:
- 6B02115 – Animation Direction
 - 6B02180 – Media Journalism
 - 6B02196 – Media and Game Technology
 
The department operates in accordance with state educational standards.
The teaching staff consists of 23 members, including 14 full-time and 9 part-time instructors, among whom are:
3 PhD holders, 1 Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, 2 Candidates of Technical Sciences, 1 Doctor of Philology, and 14 Masters of Arts.
Department Objectives
- To train highly qualified specialists capable of creating original content for film, television, the internet, the gaming industry, and XR platforms in the fields of animation direction, interactive media, and game technologies.
 - To form a national creative school based on the integration of artistic traditions and modern digital tools in animation and game development.
 - To develop research, technological, and innovative potential in the fields of screen arts, new media, and creative industries.
 - To promote the development of the domestic animation and game industry, and to popularize Kazakhstan’s cultural values through digital creativity.
 - To integrate education, science, and industry to train competitive professionals capable of working effectively in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
 
Educational Tasks
- To develop and implement modern educational programs in animation direction, interactive media, game design, and XR technologies.
 - To form students’ competencies in storytelling, directing, animation, game design, interactive project programming, and the use of new technologies.
 - To train qualified graduates capable of producing high-quality content for various digital platforms.
 
Research Tasks
- To conduct scientific research in the fields of animation, interactive media, game technologies, VR/AR, XR, and artificial intelligence.
 - To develop new teaching methodologies and creative solutions for digital content development.
 - To support scientific and creative projects of students and faculty members.
 
Creative and Production Tasks
- To create original animated films, games, interactive and multimedia projects.
 - To implement student and faculty projects in collaboration with industry partners.
 - To participate in national and international festivals, competitions, exhibitions, and game jams.
 
Industrial and Partnership Tasks
- To establish cooperation with leading studios, production companies, and organizations in the gaming and IT industries.
 - To develop a partnership network for internships, employment, and joint project implementation.
 - To promote the national animation and game industry as an important part of the creative economy.
 
Socio-Cultural Tasks
- To nurture a generation of creative leaders capable of shaping Kazakhstan’s cultural identity in the digital age.
 - To support youth initiatives in animation, interactive media, and game development.
 - To engage a wide audience with modern forms of screen art.
