Master classes of the Department of Design
Aelita Zhumaeva is a member of the International public Association of the Union of Designers (Moscow branch), head of the author’s design studio. She graduated from the Kazakh State Art Academy, majoring in Graphic Design. She held the first media design master class in Kazakhstan. The winner of the international festival “Golden Wolf” and the winner of the first All-Russian competition of advertising opportunities “Profi”. The studio’s works are published in Russian design catalogs. The theme of the master class: Using the communicative qualities of design, it is necessary to create functional objects attractive to the public. I propose to create functional and unique bird feeders.
Such objects solve 3 tasks simultaneously:
- Restoration of “green zones” — assistance in winter helps birds return to the city.
2. Creating conditions for the emergence / strengthening of empathy for wildlife. Beautiful objects cause a person to have a natural desire for contact (to put food for birds)
3. Improving the quality of life through beauty — designer feeders in parks and squares as a decoration of the city, cheer up residents, become a place of attraction.
This experience should be seen as an exercise in environmental management in collaboration with the community and understanding our ecosystem.
Anton Mariinsky is a graphic designer and illustrator living between Moscow and Berlin. His triptych “Jazz party”, made in computer graphics, takes the viewer back to the thirties of the last century, when jazz possessed minds, bodies and souls. The planar image of the figures, contrasting colors (red and blue, purple and yellow, black and white), geometricity, the desire to capture the impetuosity of the epoch and convey movement.
The master class covered various topics of graphic design:
1. The expressive means of the poster
2. Form as a defining sign
3. How to make a poster in 15 minutes
4. Poster Festivals
5. Warsaw Biennale
6. Alliance Graphique Internationale
The master classes were attended by 2,3,4 year students of the Department of Design and the teaching staff.
