26 February – 1 March 2024 in Temirbek Zhurgenov KazNAI an annual language week “Art and Artificial Intelligence” was held. It was organized by the Department of Foreign Languages and APK under the guidance of the head of the department Associate Professor Zh.S. Kanlybaeva.
On February 26, the opening ceremony of the language week of “Artificial Intelligence and Art” and the intellectual game-quiz “smART-point” were held. At the opening ceremony, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Social Issues Yergobek Shyngys Kulbekuly emphasized that academy students should pay great attention to learning English language.
The purpose of the intellectual quiz game was to develop students’ creative thinking, motivate them to knowledge through educational games, test their knowledge and teach students to formulate their thoughts and make correct decisions. The term of the intellectual game-quiz “smART-point” was to answer the questions quickly, rationally and completely. Three teams from academy students took part in the intellectual game-quiz. There were the themes “Artificial Intelligence”, “Art”, “Famous Landmarks of the World”, “Holidays and Traditions”, “Great Celebrities” and “My Country is Kazakhstan” in the intellectual game-quiz and simple and complex questions were asked within each topic. Points are awarded to teams who answered correctly the questions of the intellectual quiz game. At the end of the game, the team with the highest points was announced the winner.
On February 27, a debate on the topic “How to get empowered, not overpowered, by Artificial Intelligence” was organized. Students from the following Almaty Universities took part in this event. The debate was held in English.
Debate Participants were:
1. Temirbek Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts;
2. Almaty Management University;
3. Ablai khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages;
4. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University;
5. Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory;
6. Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.
Debate consisted of 2 parts; 6 teams competed in the 1st stage. The 4 teams that managed to express their opinions clearly and fully advanced had a chance to compete on the 2nd part. By the audience votes The Grand Prix won Students of Ablai khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages. The 1st place prize was awarded Students of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. The 2nd place was awarded Students of the Temirbek Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, the 3rd place was awarded Students of the Almaty Management University.
On February 28, a meeting of the traditional ART lounge, dedicated to relationship between artificial intelligence and art, was held in the reading room of the academy. Students from all departments of the academy and guest students from Abylaikhan Kazakh University of International relations and world language attended the meeting. Young people – representatives of various areas of art – art management, painting, music, theater, sculpture, choreography, design, cinema – had a talk about what AI is – if it just another human pastime or a revolution in the creative world. They also noted that in January 2024 in Davos another World Economic Forum took place, where uncontrolled use of artificial intelligence was noted as an existential threat. The participants shared their thoughts on how to wisely use artificial intelligence and not be defeated by it; Students of Abylaikhan University gave a talk on how it is advisable to use AI when studying foreign languages. Everyone actively and interestedly participated in discussion and 10 students made presentations in English on the topic under discussion. The speech made in English by Ergobek Sh.K, vice-rector for educational work was unexpectedly facinating. After discussing AI problems, students recited poems in various languages, including their own compositions, praising real living art. In conclusion, students of Action specialty showed a mini-film they had shot about how human life could change by 2040 if AI takes over. The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere and all participants received an apple as a symbol of knowledge and a chocolate bar.
On February 29, in Temirbek Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts was held Olympiad-contest on public speaking skills in English “SPEECH CONTEST 2024”. The theme of the competition was “Art and Artificial Intelligence”. The Olympiad was held on the basis of the Department of “Foreign Languages and Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan” of the Academy among students of creative specialties of higher and secondary special educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Contest was held in 2 rounds in a hybrid format.
The jury watched video-recordings of participants of the 1st round and on the 2nd round listened to performances with presentations on the theme “ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ART”. In total, 34 students from 9 educational institutions took part in the Olympiad “Speech Contest 2024”.
According to the results of two rounds, the jury made a decision on the places among students of secondary specialized educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

On March 1, in the Library of the Academy, the International Round Table as part of the Week of Languages and Gratitude Day on the topic: “LET THERE BE PEACE IN OUR HEARTS. HOUR OF FRIENDSHIP” in online and offline modes was held. The main goal of the International Round Table was to familiarize people with the activities of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and the structures of this organization, to familiarize young people with the history of their country and its cultural heritage.
The participants of the Round Table were: Teaching staff of the Department of Foreign Language and Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and students of the Academy; Members of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, members of the Scientific Expert Group of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, Representatives of Ethnocultural Associations of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan; Faculty and students of A.A. Kadyrov Chechen State University, Kenzhegali Sagadiev University of International Business (UIB), International Transport and Humanitarian University; American students of Al-Farabi KazNU according to the Memorandum between Temirbek Zhurgenov KazNAA and Al-Farabi KazNU. The main report on the activities of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan was made by Professor Shaimerdenova M.Zh., Ph.D. Sciences, professor – member of the APK, member of the Scientific Expert Group of the APK.
