The creation of Kazakhstan’s own film school was an important step in the history of the education of a new generation of film photographers. In this regard, in 1993, the Faculty of cinema was opened (organized) at the Almaty State Theater and Art Institute. Today, this faculty is the leading educational institution of cinematographic education in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The founders and first teachers of the faculty were famous Kazakhstani cinematographers: filmmakers A. Khaidarov, T. Temenov, V. Pusyrmanov, E. Abdrakhmanov, S. Azimov, B. Sharip, K. Mergaziev, Film Critics B. Nugerbek, G. Abikeeva, K. Ainagulova, K. Alimbayeva, theater and film actors T. Zhamankulov, cameramen A. Kasteev, E. Daulbayev, playwrights A. Tarazi, L. akhinzhanova, journalist and prominent public figure K. Smailov were present.
